Description
Thailand Floating Market Damnoen Saduak tour
TOUR DURATION 07.00 – 13.30
07.00 – Depart from the hotel by private car, proceeding southwest from Bangkok. Our destination is about 90 kilometers (60 miles) away, and it will take about an hour and a half to get there. Damneonsaduak is a district in Ratchaburi province located to the southwest of Bangkok.
King Rama IV of Bangkok directed the excavation of many small canals around the district, in order to satisfy the growing transportation needs of the local population. Thereafter, the network of canals became a necessity of life.
Every morning, most villagers bring their products and commodities, including fruits from the orchards and vegetables from the plantations, to exchange with one another.
Along the way, we will witness fascinating sights and activities which will broaden our understanding of Thai culture and the different ways of life in this amazing country. For example, we will observe areas of salt production where villagers are producing salt from sea water.
We will also visit the local fresh market where people buy and sell fresh food, including fish and other sea food, vegetables and sweets. If time permits, you should be able to stop and photograph these activities, thereby memorializing your experiences.
Another interesting stop on this tour is a village where people depend on coconuts in order to make different products. In some houses, along the way to the dock, you will see demonstrations of how brown sugar is produced from coconut sap, how coconut milk can be squeezed from shredded coconut, and how coconut oil is obtained.
The highlight of our trip actually begins as we leave our car at the dock, boarding a long-tailed boat for an exhilarating half-hour cruise along the network of small canals. On arriving at the Damneonsaduak Floating Market, everyone will enjoy some free time to independently explore this magical market.
11.30 – Finally, when the excitement and fun of our visit to the Floating Market has drawn to an end, we return by private car to our hotel in Bangkok.
13.00 – Arrive at the hotel
